Why Diabetes Can Cause Bad Breath?

1. Diabetes can cause endocrine disorder, for example, it has a bad influence on the secretion of the insulin. Therefore, the composition of the carbohydrates becomes difficult. The metabolism of the fat will produce acetone, which smells bad. And the point is, the acetone will be discharged through the lungs, and then through the mouth.

2. Chronic diabetes may cause several complications, which can be divided into vascul diseases and peripheral nervous system diseases. Severely, diabetes might cause hypertension, myocardial infarction, atherosclerosis and other diseases. Some Diabetic patients suffer from nervous disorder because their peripheral nerve have already been damaged. And the nervous disorder is likely to cause periodontitis, gingivitis, mouth ulcers and probably other diseases. The mouth ulcer is one of the reason that leads to bad breath. Consequently, it is necessary for the diabetic patients to pay more attention to the oral administration when taking the diabetes treatment. A diagnose in detail for the patients to see which kind of complications they may have is strongly recommended.

3. High blood sugar leads to capillary congestion, which have a bad influence on the oxygen supply to the oral tissues. Therefore, the breeding ground for the anaerobic bacterium, which are the main reason for the oral diseases, will be provided. Not only the bad breath, but also the ulcer, and probably inflammation can be caused by those bacterium. Moreover, according to a investigation of relevant experts, the proportion of bad breath in diabetic patients is 2~3 times higher than the non-diabetic patients.

4. Investigations show that, the anxiety and irritability during the treatment of bad breath may induce hypertension. Therefore, it is suggested that the diabetic patients not receive treatment of bad breath. Otherwise, myocardial infarction, cardiovascular disorders, brain hemorrhage and other complications of diabetes might be induced. For those patients whose blood pressure are difficult to control, the medical treatment of congestive cardiac dysfunction should comes first if they want to have the medical treatment of the oral diseases.
